Connecting third-party applications enables Axiamatic to derive insights from project and issue data. Here is a step-by-step guide that you can follow to connect Jira to Axiamatic, including the permissions you need to grant and their meanings.
Prerequisites:
Before connecting Jira to Axiamatic, you will need a Personal Access Token (PAT) from Atlassian. Follow the steps below to generate one.
Steps to create a PAT:
Step 1: Access Your Atlassian Profile
In Jira or Confluence, select your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen and choose Settings from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Navigate to Security Settings
Under your account settings, select Security from the top menu. Click Create and manage API tokens under the API token section.
Step 3: Create a New Token
Axiamatic supports two types of Jira connections:
Full Access — Axiamatic can access all Jira data your account has permission to view. Select Create API token to generate a token with full scope.
Limited Access — Axiamatic can only access the specific Jira data you permit. Select Create API token with scopes to define exactly what the token can do.
Give your token a meaningful name that reflects its purpose, such as "Jira Axiamatic Integration".
If you selected Create API token with scopes, choose the permissions you want to grant. We recommend enabling read:jira-work and read:jira-user for standard Axiamatic functionality.
Give your token a meaningful name that reflects its purpose, such as "Jira Axiamatic Integration".
Step 4: Set an Expiry Date
Choose an expiry date for your token. If your workspace administrator permits it, you can select 'No expiry'.

Click 'Create'. Your token will be displayed once; copy it immediately and store it somewhere secure. It cannot be retrieved again after you leave this screen.

Jira Cloud — Select this if you created a standard API token with full access.
jira-cloud-with-limited-scope — Select this if you created an API token with specific scopes.
Your selection will expand to reveal the credentials fields. Proceed to the next step to fill them in.
When prompted during the connection setup, you will need to provide three values — your email address, your PAT from the prerequisite step, and your Jira Cloud ID.
How to locate your Cloud ID:
In your browser, navigate to
https://your-domain.atlassian.net/_edge/tenant_info, replacingyour-domainwith your company's Atlassian domain. The page will return a JSON object. Locate the
