Connecting SAP Cloud ALM to Axiamatic

Step-by-step guide to setting up the SAP Cloud ALM integration, from enabling API access to configuring channels.

Connect SAP Cloud ALM to Axiamatic to analyze data from your projects, requirements, tasks, and other supported objects.

Prerequisites

Before you connect SAP Cloud ALM to Axiamatic, you need:

  • Access to an SAP Cloud ALM tenant

  • SAP Cloud ALM API access enabled

  • Permission to generate API credentials

  • OAuth 2.0 service credentials from SAP Cloud ALM

The user generating the credentials needs the Global Account Administrator role.

Part 1: Enable SAP Cloud ALM API access

Follow SAP's documentation to enable API access for your tenant:

This creates the required service configuration and opens API access for external integrations.

Step 1: Generate service credentials

After you enable API access, generate the service credentials for OAuth 2.0 authentication. The credentials include:

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret

  • OAuth Token URL, for example https://<tenant>.authentication.sap.hana.ondemand.com/oauth/token

  • API URL, for example https://<tenant>.alm.cloud.sap

The OAuth Token URL and API URL contain <tenant>, which is a placeholder for your SAP Cloud ALM tenant name. Your generated credentials already have the real value in place, so copy each URL exactly as it appears in your service key.

Store these credentials securely. The client secret cannot be shared publicly.

Step 2: Open the integrations settings

Select your profile icon, then select Settings. Go to Integrations and find SAP Cloud ALM in the list of available connectors.

Step 3: Enter your credentials

Select Connect on the SAP Cloud ALM card. Enter your Client ID, Client Secret, OAuth Token URL, and API URL, then select Save.

Step 4: Confirm the connection

Axiamatic validates the credentials and connects to your tenant. The SAP Cloud ALM card shows a Connected status once authentication succeeds.

Step 5: Configure channels

Open the Channels tab to choose which SAP Cloud ALM objects Axiamatic ingests. Select the projects and object types you want to analyze, then save your selection.

Part 2: Connect SAP Cloud ALM in Axiamatic

Log in to your Axiamatic account. To connect other apps, you need the Program Admin or Integration Manager role.

Step 1: Open program settings and go to Integrations

Select your profile menu, then open Program Settings. Select Integrations from the left navigation.

Step 2: Find SAP Cloud ALM

Locate the SAP Cloud ALM app in the app list. Click on 'Connect'.

Step 3: Choose Shared or Private Connection

When prompted, select how you want to scope this connection.​

  • Shared Connection: Makes this SharePoint connection available to all current and future projects or business units using Axiamatic in your workspace. This is the recommended option for most teams.

  • Private Connection: Limits this SharePoint connection to the current project or account only. Future projects will need their own separate SharePoint connection.

After selecting, click on 'Proceed'.

Step 4: Enter your credentials

A dialog opens for the credentials you generated earlier. Enter the following values, then click on 'Connect':

  • API URL: the API URL from your service credentials

  • Token URL: the OAuth Token URL from your service credentials

  • Client ID: the Client ID from your service credentials

  • Client Secret: the Client Secret from your service credentials

All four fields are required.

Integration complete. Axiamatic authenticates with SAP Cloud ALM and completes the connection.
